Kumi is pretty far removed from any type of airy-fairy spirituality. For this teacher, life is all about living honourably - with one's feet firmly on the ground. His life has been steeped in spiritual learning from an early age. He grew up in a traditional Hindu family in KwaZulu-Natal. He began yoga and marshall arts as a youngster which resulted in a journey to the World Marshall Arts Championships in Japan.

As a young man, he spent time in the Himalayas in India where he learnt about spirituality under various masters and returned to South Africa to fulfill his calling as a spiritual teacher. He is not affiliated to any religion and says the wisdom he offers is simply universal truth that compliments any religion or belief. He has been a spiritual teacher for over twenty years.
